40th Ruby Masskara Festival
The Masskara Festival is an annual festival in Bacolod, Philippines that celebrates the city's culture and resilience. The festival features colorful masks, street dancing, live music, and a grand finale fireworks display. The festival is held on the fourth Sunday of October each year and takes place at the Bacolod Public Plaza, Lacson Tourism Strip, and Bacolod City Government Center. The festival features a street dancing parade with colorful masks and costumes. The competition has school and barangay divisions variety of live music, including folk songs, Latin beat mixes, and Philippine jazz. The festival ends with a grand finale fireworks display called the Electric Masskara. The Electric Masskara is a night parade with choreographed dancers wearing illuminated costumes and masks. It is also features a mask design competition. it was created to lift the spirits of the people of Bacolod after a period of crisis and tragedy and represents the heart of Bacolod, its people, and their enduring spirit.
